This month's PAC meeting will include a presentation from the VSB outlining the bussing plan for next year, when Livingstone is undergoing a seismic upgrade, and students are temporally being accommodated at the South Hill swing site.

The meeting will be held virtually on Wednesday, May 19, starting at 7:00pm via Zoom.

There will be a short PAC meeting and update from Mr. Froese, followed by the bussing info session at approximately 7:15pm.

The zoom meeting details and letter from VSB are below.

Meeting ID: 295 194 7304

To the Livingstone Elementary Community:
You are invited to an important meeting regarding bussing during the Livingstone Elementary Seismic Mitigation Project.
At this meeting, School District and Vancouver Project Office staff will explain the bussing process and answer questions about bussing. We will be reviewing the bussing part of the Livingstone Parent Brochure – Seismic Relocation. Topics covered in the presentation include Bus Schedule and Route, School Bus Rules and Expectations, and Parent Protocol.
A school-wide bus registration form will be distributed to all families following the presentation. It is important that families understand the bussing process before completing the survey and committing to bussing.

This meeting will only cover bussing so there is no need to attend if you know that your child(ren) will be getting to and from South Hill Swing Site by other means.

Thank you.

Michael Rossi

Principal’s March Report to PAC

3/13/2021

Thank you so much to our very generous PAC for:
  • The funding to defray costs for the Options Sexual Health Program for 14 divisions.
  • The continued funding of classroom materials ($500.00) and classroom literacy materials. $500.00 for teachers
  • Supportive comments and positive feedback at this difficult time.
  • Organizing parent presentation last night with Dr. Shimi Kang.

We had another great online assembly on March 1st.   Parents are always welcome to log in through their child’s TEAMS account on the first Monday of the month at 2:15 pm on the All Students At Livingstone Team – Assemblies channel.  Students in each division have been taking control and sharing projects and events from their classrooms.  Very fun!

I started a YouTube channel called Ms. Froese Reads to build community during this time of social distancing.  It is a channel posted on the All Students TEAM and features readings of picture books.  Students and parents are encouraged to volunteer as a guest reader and submit a video clip of their reading.  Students must have a signed media release for this project.  There is also a sheet that can downloaded and completed to share favourite books with peers.  Students can also submit online to livingstone@vsb.bc.ca.  There are random draws on Fridays for prizes.

Mr. Muress and I are also working on a list of books to support social emotional learning and a sense of belonging at the school.  Students are encouraged to submit their favourite books in this area through the survey link on the Chapter Book Recommendations channel.  There is also a random draw of Fridays for students participating in this way.

The Seismic Mitigation project is progressing according to plan.  Staff are busy purging unneeded materials and getting ready for the move to the South Hill Swing site in July.  Tomorrow several staff members will be going for a tour of the site led by Michael Rossi.

Enjoy your Spring Break from March 13th – March 28th.  We’ll see you back on March 29th.  I’m quite certain that much of the staff will be getting some well-deserved rest.  It has been a very intense time.  I hope you are able to enjoy some fun family time.

Respectfully,
Ms. Carrie Froese
